U.S Patent Law for the Scandinavian Practitioner

1 - 2 December 2011 , Stockholm - Lokal meddelas senare

This two-day course will explain the unique aspects of U.S. patent practice and give you essential guidance and strategies on everything from patent procurement to enforcement in the U.S.

The patent system in the United States is in many ways entirely unique. In addition, there have been many critical changes in the U.S. patent laws and in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s rules over the last few years. Many practitioners argue that U.S. patents are now harder to obtain and harder to enforce than in the past.

This course is also tailored for the Scandinavian or European Practitioner. The goal will be to increase your ability and confidence in managing U.S. patent law issues – whether when advising your own client or instructing your U.S. counsel. In an effort to do so, the course will use an interactive approach to address all of your questions.

Day 1 of the course will provide an introduction to the various legal issues that drive portfolio development strategies in the U.S. We will also cover tactics for efficiently drafting a global patent application. Day 2 will then focus on U.S. prosecution and enforcement.
